A professional author and illustrator since 1997, Denise has several publishing credits to her name. Tony and Denise may seem like an unlikely couple until you understand that Denise grew up around a machining background. Both her father and brothers have owned machine shops and her grandfather started a local hosiery mill. During summer breaks from college she worked doing various odd jobs for her father. Over the years she graduated to working in sales quoting jobs. More recently she accepted a part-time position at a local machine shop as an administrative assistant. Her responsibilities included data and order entry, drawing file maintenance, and creation of inspection documentation. She also initiated and instituted an inventory control system that the company was lacking. She recently left the company to devote more time to DDW.
Artwork will always be Denise's passion. She works in a three-dimensional style called paper sculpture--various colored shapes cut from paper, elevated from the background to create a relief. Her art is then photographed for publication. You can see more of her work at her website www.sculptedpaper.com and her books on her Amazon's Author's Page. She is starting to use the laser in her work, though much of it is still cut by hand.
Her children's books include:
Carrot in My Pocket
Good Morning, Garden
How Does Your Salad Grow?
The Legend of the Old Man of the Mountain
Planets: All Aboard Reading
Sex & Babies: First Facts
